Draw This Again Challenge!

Want a fun new art challenge to try? The “Draw This Again Challenge” is a great way to see how much your art has improved, or to see how much your style has changed. I decided to try it out. While going through a bunch of old sketchbooks and art projects I did while growing up I found the perfect candidate.

I created this drawing back in 2012. It was inspired by the song “Show Me” by Beckah Shae. I was so motivated to create a visual representation of the Christian life, walking along the narrow path. This was my way of communicating that no matter what, I would be a follower of Christ, not going along with the crowd, but trusting in Jesus as the One Way.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Once I had my old art piece chosen, I sketched it out again in my current sketchbook.

After my sketch was complete, I decided to bring the drawing into Photoshop to add color, even though I am still quite a newbie at digital painting.

Traditional artwork was my main focus while growing up, therefore I do not have as much experience in digital painting. In addition, I do not have any set workflow yet, and I’m not as familiar with digital painting methods. However, I do find it exceedingly fun and interesting to learn. It is definitely something I will continue to study and grow in.

The final result of my “Draw This Again Challenge.”

In conclusion, this challenge was a lot of fun, and I can truly see how different my style has become. Who knows, I might try this again sometime! Maybe this “One Way” art piece will turn into a redraw tradition as to watch my art progress through the years.

Go try this out with your artwork! Find some old projects and recreate them in your current style! As always, I’d love to hear from you guys! If you want to share your thoughts, questions, artwork, or anything else, you can reach me through my contact page or social media! Love you creative fam 😊
